SPRING BRIEFING WORKSHOPS 2012

This year’s spring workshops again come at a time of great uncertainty. It appears that the critical decision on funding will be made by the voters on the November statewide ballot. Following that decision, schools will either be making more deep cuts or beginning to stabilize their budgets.

The spring workshops are designed to give local education leaders a “heads up” on what to expect for the coming year, with information integrated across fiscal and program issues. Local educators must plan to implement the new academic standards. Compared to last year, a lot is now going on with regard to all the critical, inter-connected issues: instructional materials, assessment, accountability and professional development.

As usual, the CISI Spring Briefing will provide the latest information on issues of concern to curriculum and instructional leaders and will cover the “Top Ten” issues in education.

The presenter at the Spring Briefing Workshops will be Peter Birdsall, Executive Director of the California County Superintendents Educational Services Association (CCSESA). We are also pleased to announce that this year’s workshops are offered in association with the UC Davis School of Education, Center for Applied Policy in Education (CAP-Ed).

Workshops begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at noon, registration begins 30 minutes prior.
